Wrinkles - progression pics of a wooden face
Started with a doodle on a piece of normal sized paper. As always, I have to make sure every line is connected (so it can all be cut out), gotta be creative with eyeballs.
Spray glued it to a piece of pine:
Cut out the outline using the trusty Dewalt Scrollsaw
Then traced the outline onto another piece which will become the backing board:
Both the project and backing board cut out:
Time to start cutting out the 94 (I think) pieces. You can see the blade just above the black air blower. The blade width is about the same as the line drawn with a pencil or pen:
Then my son Zacky Potter told me it was time to come in for supper:
Half cut, well okay I only had one beer:
Fully cut out:
Glue peeling time, the spray glue comes off pretty easily. If I use too much glue, a bit of Mineral Spirits makes it come off without the residue:
Fully peeled, but unfortunately a bit blurry, perhaps it was the second beer?:
The start of sanding each piece, gotta love the new belt sander, although I did lose a piece for about 15 minutes, gottta keep the shop floor dust free I suppose:
Most of the sanding done with the belt sander, just need to do some hand sanding to tidy everything up:
Side angle view:
The eyes have it, another blurry one, sorry!:
Is this one better?:
Then I bought it inside for the night. I might just leave it like this, all I'll have to do is glue it all together, or I may decide to paint each piece, but I kind of like the wood grain showing. What would you do?:
Not a bad day, good weather, and on top of working for 8 hours at my day job, I got all of this done as well (by 10:00 at night)
Cheers!

I'm featured in a new magazine, and would like your vote in a poll they have
I'm currently featured in the new Scrollsaw magazine, and they've added an online gallery and a poll which if enough people vote, I could be doing some feature articles and possibly a book on how I do my woodworking.
If you could drop by and vote, I'd appreciate it. Pass it on...
